Mind, Body and Health
Functional neurology aims to treat a wide variety of conditions and ailments by examining the way the brain and nervous system send signals to the rest of the body. Abnormal sensations, abnormal posture or thoughts, or abnormal motor functions could all be signs of inconsistent brain function, and may be areas where a functional neurologist could help.
In Memphis, functional neurology is practiced by our own Dr. Charles Hogan, MS, DC. Dr. Hogan is passionate about using chiropractic techniques along with his knowledge of the latest developments in neuroscience to get to the bottom of the physical conditions that affect his patients.
During your initial assessment, some of the factors that will be examined for inconsistent brain functioning include your balance, gait, eye movement and other criteria. You may be asked about your own medical history and that of your family. This assessment phase goes in depth to determine exactly where the brain and body have a failure to communicate. Once the diagnosis is made, the doctor will develop a treatment plan for you that may include exercises, nutritional recommendations and/or various “brain training” tools.
Patients have reported relief from many different problems using functional neurology therapies, including the symptoms of cognitive decline, age-related memory loss, stress, sexual problems, migraines and more.
