Carpal Tunnel

Carpal Tunnel

Carpal Tunnel can present as numbness, tingling, or weakness in the arms, hands, or fingers. The symptoms vary from person to person. One person may experience tingling while another person may experience weakness.

One of the common misconceptions associated with Carpal Tunnel is that the problem originates in the wrist. The majority of the time, carpal tunnel is associated with spinal misalignments, subluxations, in the neck. These subluxations irritate and put pressure on the nerves that branch off and travel down the arm to the fingertips.

Often the traditional treatments for carpal tunnel only focus on treating the symptoms, without correcting the cause. Common treatments are braces, cortisone shots, limit activity, and surgery.

At Memphis Chiropractic Neurology we use X-ray, neurological and orthopedic exams to determine the location of the subluxations causing carpal tunnel. Once located, we us specific spinal adjustments to correct the subluxations to allow the body to heal. In addition to the adjustments we tailor active rehab exercises as well as passive therapies to help the body heal.

The best advice I would give someone suffering with carpal tunnel would be to seek out a chiropractor to find the root cause of the problem and correct it. Carpal tunnel takes time to produce symptoms and will take a period of time to heal. There are no quick fixes so be patient as the chiropractor removes the subluxations to allow your body to truly heal.
